Currently holding the position of Full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, Università “G. d’Annunzio” di Chieti – Pescara, Professor Epifano earned his doctoral degree in pharmaceutical sciences in 1998 at the University of Perugia, developing an early interest in the structural and functional characterization of phytochemicals. He has significantly contributed to the field through the study of oxyprenylated coumarins, phenylpropanoids, prenyloxy-anthraquinones, and other structurally modified natural products with promising therapeutic applications.
Professor Epifano received multiple Awards in recognition of his scientific achievements, among them, the International Association for Dental Reseach and Glaxo Smith Kline Award for his research on auraptene as an antibacterial agents against oral pathogens in 2010, the Apivita Award of Phytochemistry issued by Apivita and the Phytochemical Society of Europe ion 2012 and the prestigious Innovation Award from the Phytochemical Society of Europe and Pierre Fabre R&D, honoring his groundbreaking contributions to the discovery of novel natural compounds acting on CNS receptors in 2017.
📝 As external evaluator of the EMJM SuCat, his role will be to investigate, assess and evaluate the implementation of the project such as the learning outcomes, good management of the scholarships or employability of the student.
